Stop teasing...

Without selling.

GM! Paperboy here 🗞️

I often see brands tease upcoming drops with an email.

Usually, it’s a vague message that simply says, “Something’s coming.”

I have mixed feelings about these.

If it’s a huge collab or mega drop you know will sell out, the mystery alone can work.

But if you think a lot of customers won’t care about the drop, give them another action to take so you can maximize the value of the send.

Enter this OLAUTO sequence (images below)

  • Step 1: The email teases a simple little game

  • Step 2: Customers play a Replit-hosted quiz game (play it here)

  • Step 3: If they win, they get a free shipping code as a reward. It can be used toward the drop OR toward another purchase.

This campaign website was probably built in just an hour or two using Replit, an AI app-building platform that makes it easy to spin up little mini apps like this. *No affiliation to them.

I’m seeing more brands experiment with this type of gamification. I don’t have any concrete data yet, but as I learn more about which approaches drive the most revenue and engagement, I’ll share what I find.

If you’re doing something like this, please reply and tell me more 🙂 I’d be happy to feature you in the newsy.

An alternate approach

A lazier (and totally acceptable) version would be to feature collections or other products under the teaser using “while you wait” messaging.
